SBL Group Ltd (SBL) provides cloud UC services under the UK government’s G-Cloud framework. This means that public sector organisations will be able to procure SBL’s Qunifi Enterprise Cloud solution from the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) category of G-Cloud.
G-Cloud is a government initiative that aims to provide a single repository of cloud-based IT services for use by public sector organisations, through Digital Marketplace – an online marketplace for cloud IT services. The move is designed to drive the wider adoption of cloud computing in the public sector and deliver a more efficient, competitive and cost-effective way of buying IT services.
Andrew Nash, Technical Director at SBL believes this is a positive move, further demonstrating SBL’s progressive attitude and opening up another procurement route for local authorities. “We are seeing an increased demand and interest for Software-as-a-Service with a solid cloud-based solution. Our place on the G-Cloud framework was an essential route to market for our cloud-based UC telephony solution.”
SBL’s success coincides with the expansion of the G-Cloud supplier framework, and the formal introduction of the government’s ‘Cloud First’ policy. The new policy makes it mandatory for some public sector buyers of IT products and services to consider purchases through Digital Marketplace as their first option.
Peter Tebbutt, UK&I Managing Director for Alcatel Lucent Enterprise stated “The SBL-Group management team have focused on driving the business forward, especially in the areas of customer care and professional services. This new initiative will enable them to optimize the investment they have made whilst also enabling customers to benefit from a fantastic, cost effective and flexible solution”.
In a public announcement, Francis Maude, Minister for the Cabinet Office, said: “G-Cloud brings a step change in the way government buys IT. It’s quicker, cheaper and more competitive, open to a wider range of companies, and offers more choice and innovation. Many government departments already use G-Cloud, but IT costs are still too high. One way we can reduce them is to accelerate the adoption of Cloud across the public sector to maximise its benefits. The Cloud First policy will embed the skills a modern civil service needs to meet the demands of 21st-century digital government and help us to get ahead in the global race.”
SBL’s Qunifi Enterprise Cloud is an UCaaS solution delivering all the unified communications necessary to optimize the productivity of employees through multi-device, multiparty and multimedia communications. Qunifi Enterprise Cloud easily conveys context-based information without compromising security or quality. Employees shift between devices to adapt to the context of a conversation, delivering a superior customer experience. In addition to being available via G-Cloud as SaaS, Qunifi Enterprise Cloud is also available as a locally-hosted solution.
